Getting ready for a school trip
- Consent to the trip on parentmail.
At the beginning of the school year parents give permission for the entire school year for their child to attend school visits within the locality, such as walks in the village, bus to swimming, or a bus to the arts Centre. For trips a little further afield you are required to provide consent on parentmail.
- Contribute to the school trip on parentmail.
Your donations towards school visits allow us to provide great opportunities for our learners. We kindly ask for a donation towards the cost of transport and entry fees. Pupils from low income families are not expected to make a contribution. All pupils are entitled to attend. We are grateful to the PTA for the contributions they make to fund school visits.
- Provide a healthy packed lunch
If required, the school kitchen can prepare a packed lunch for your child. Please download and print the order form, and send into school at least a fortnight before the date of thee trip. If you require a paper copy please ask class teachers over class dojo. Please see the form at the end of this page. Provide cool bags to carry packed lunches. The school has a supply of cool bags for use by pupils from low income families.
Ideas for healthy packed lunches are available . Please provide a water bottle.
- Provide appropriate clothing
If at all possible we ask that pupils wear school polo shirt and jumper/school colours on all school visits so that they are easy to identify. Practical and comfortable bottoms and footwear for the occasion should be worn. Spare clothing is useful for pupils who may be prone to accidents, or visits where water/muddy play is expected.
Wet weather - wellingtons/walking boots, raincoat, waterproof trousers,
Cold weather - layers, hat, scarf, gloves,
Warm weather – sun hat, sun screen,
A bag big enough to keep all required items is useful.
- Take note of arrangements
Arrangements will be communicated to you via email through parentmail. They will also be displayed on the school calendar. Remainders may come through class dojo. Please take note of time and location.
- Provide pocket money
Class teachers will inform you if it is appropriate for your child to bring pocket money and how much. Please send in a wallet/purse labelled with your child’s name.
- Give ANY medication to the class teacher
Do not put medication in your child’s bag. Give ALL medication to the class teacher along with a medical form noting dosage.
- Avoid bringing unnecessary personal belongings.
Do not let your child bring a mobile phone or tablet in their bag. Do not bring toys from home.
